Vision and Mission
Choto Tara is committed to children / adolescents with mental and/or physical disabilities in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, these children are left to their fates.
Choto Tara is a small organisation with (at the moment) five day-care centres in Mymensingh and surrounding areas, where children en adolescents with mental disabilities are welcomed four days a week. Besides the five day-care centres, we also recently opened up a workshop. Without these centres, the children get no relaxation or stimulation, and will be alone all day.
In the day care centres, the children can play, sing, and dance. And in some cases, even learn some skills. These skills are taught in the workshop, and the children will try to sell what is made in the workshop.
Choto Tara thinks that children and adolescents with mental disabilities deserve attention, warmth and dedication, just like all other children. The children deserve a decent existence: they must be able to develop themselves on a cognitive, social, emotional, and physical level. They deserve a full-fledged place in society: to be autonomous, well educated and to learn a profession.
Even though we have many plans for the future, we also cherish the small-scale approach of Choto Tara, which we believe is one of its strengths. We would like to invite you to participate in offering this help.
We work very closely with the brothers of Taize, who have set up many small-scale projects in Mymensingh. The brothers have been living in Bangladesh for over 30 years.
With kind regards,
Choto Tara Foundation
